The history of allen wrenches

Speaking of the origin of the Allen wrench, we must start with the Allen screws. In some non-English-speaking European countries, people call "Allen key" "Unbrako key". This "Unbrako" is actually an early brand of hexagon socket screws, founded by the American SPS company (Standard Pressed Steel Company) around 1911.
SPS company had previously imported a type of socket screw from the UK, but the price was very expensive. In order to save costs, SPS company decided to produce it by itself. HT Hallowell, the founder of SPS, said in his memoirs: "We started to try to make some screws with square holes like the UK, but soon discovered that this kind of screws would not be accepted in the United States. So we decided to add six screws to the screws. Angular holes.” Hallowell’s interpretation of this history is ambiguous, but according to later generations, SPS has made changes to avoid patent disputes with internal four-corner screws. In short, SPS company began to produce this new hexagon socket screw, and registered a trademark called "Unbrako", taken from the homonym of "unbreakable", which means "unbreakable". Later, the hexagon socket screws gradually replaced the socket screws and became the new industry standard, which is widely used in the manufacturing industries of automobiles, airplanes, machinery and furniture.
The origin of "Allen key"
As soon as the hexagon socket screws appear, they need the matching hexagon wrench. In those years when "Unbrako" hexagon socket screws were popular in the United States, various kinds of hexagon socket wrenches were manufactured, but they did not have a unified name.
Hardware tools refer to the general name of various metal devices manufactured by forging, rolling, cutting and other physical processing of metals such as iron, steel, and aluminum. Hardware tools include various manual, lifting tools, measuring tools, tool machinery, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, knives, molds, cutting tools, grinding wheels, drill bits, polishing machines, tool accessories, measuring tools, paint tools, abrasives, etc. Most of the manual hardware tools sold by Allen wrenches in the world are produced and exported from my country. China has become the world's main manual hardware tool supplier.
The marketing of the export allen wrench is the early marketing model, which is based on the production of the enterprise. It does not design, develop, and manufacture products from the perspective of consumers. The philosophy is "what you produce, you sell." . In this way, the marketing of Allen wrenches dominated the marketing field of that period, and there was no position of the marketing department in the design of the enterprise department. The production department and the sales department occupied a dominant position in the development of the enterprise.
